Jennifer Garner 'reveals' what she was thinking during viral Oscars meme of herself

Jennifer Garner became an overnight meme at the Oscars after she was caught on camera appearing to have come to a sudden realisation.

The 45-year-old actor was clapping with the rest of the audience at the 90th Academy Awards, when her face changes and her hands drop.

A short clip of the moment subsequently went viral on social media, prompting users to try and work out what she was thinking.

Garner herself has now offered up a plethora of equally hilarious explanations for the meme.

She posted an Instagram story playing the clip of her response while sharing three possible realisations she was having at that moment.

“Congrats to Shape of Water. Maybe I should date a fish,” was one of Garner’s narrations. This is a reference to Guillermo del Toro’s film which took home the Best Picture award.

Another was: “Hey, Jimmy Kimmel, what’s in your wallet? Wait, where is my wallet?”

This alluded to the catchphrase from her Capital One Venture card adverts.

Garner's final suggestion was: “Can’t wait to work with Lena Dunham. Wait, did I sign a nudity waiver?”

It was recently announced that Garner would be starring alongside Dunham in Jenni Konner’s new show Camping.

The eight part series is based on the British sitcom created by Julia Davis.

Garner’s appearance will be her first TV role since starring in ABC’s Alias from 2001 to 2006.

She will take on the role of Kathryn whom Dunham and Konner describe as “messy, tough and provocative and really really fun”.

“We love Jennifer’s restraint and comedic timing, and we can’t wait for the warmth and intelligence she’ll bring to our central character, Kathryn,” Dunham and Konner said in a statement. “It’s truly a dream to have her first on our call sheet. Now we just have to write her some stunts.”
