Although the 2020 Emmy Awards was like no other Hollywood award show that has ever come before it, Jennifer Aniston delivered one familiar element to the event, stealing the show in the chicest, simplest ensemble. The actress – who attended the virtual event in-person at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles – arrived on stage wearing a slinky black vintage Christian Dior dress.
Aniston is known for her commitment to simplicity on the red carpet. Over the years, the actress has consistently delivered in nailing low-key glamour and proving that sometimes, you can make as big a statement with a pared-back dress as you can with over-the-top colourful couture.
She did this in style recently wearing a black strapless Dior couture gown to the 2020 Golden Globes, while she has also donned black frocks to the numerous other awards shows earlier in her career, including Valentino to the 2004 Golden Globes and Saint Laurent to the same award show in 2015.
Last night's look came in the form of a black silk bias-cut dress, which she teamed with slinky heels and a dazzling necklace – and was very reminiscent of the cream silk vintage Dior dress she wore to the 2020 Sag Awards, which won huge praise for its glamour but also its sustainable edge.
Earlier in the day, Aniston shared a picture with fans of her getting ready for the award show in her "other" mask.
When at the event, Aniston helped put out a fire on stage with Jimmy Kimmel in a light-hearted sketch as they presented the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, which went to Catherine O'Hara from Schitt's Creek.
The 2020 Emmy Awards was certainly like no other. The event was almost completely virtual with just a few stars taking to the stage, while others were filmed in separate locations across the country, where they celebrated with close family and friends.
