Netflix has confirmed the release date for Murder Mystery 2, the sequel to 2019's Agatha Christie adaptation starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler, as well as a first look.
The duo return as Nick and Audrey Spitz, now full-time detectives struggling to get their private eye business off the ground. Things get complicated when Maharajah (Adeel Akhtar) is kidnapped at his own wedding, and and a new international adventure begins.
Murdery Mystery 2 lands on Netflix on 31 March, and you can check out a first look in Netflix's 2023 preview below, as well as first look pictures.
The Wedding Ringer's Jeremy Garelick is replacing What We Do in the Shadows' Kyle Newacheck as director, while James Vanderbilt once again pens the script.
Meanwhile, The Witcher: Blood Origin's Jodie Turner-Smith, Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar's Annie Mumolo and Shazam! and Cruella's Mark Strong have joined the cast.
In Digital Spy's review of the first film, we said: "It may sound like we're writing off the film as just another schlocky comedy to add to the never-ending list of Sandler's Netflix contributions, but let it be known that Murder Mystery is not without its merits. You could even argue that, within the world of complex cinematic universes and fandom scrutiny, Kyle Newacheck's film is necessary in its mindlessness.
"Granted, the script, at times, leans into a few tired gender tropes, but most of all the dialogue remains out of this area, instead offering a meta take on the genre its title defines and thick-and-fast quips between the characters – particularly Aniston and Sandler who bring an expected charm to their roles."
Hopefully the filmmakers took all on the feedback from the first one and have created something really funny this time around.
Murder Mystery 2 lands on Netflix on March 31.
