Just in case you missed the exciting announcement on Friday, each of the seven finalists in this year’s Swim Search were declared co-winners of the 2023 open casting call. In an unprecedented move, each woman, including non-profit CEO and new mom Jena Sims, will be featured as a rookie in the 60th anniversary magazine next May.
Sims, a 34-year-old fashion designer, shared the cutest Instagram reel on Oct. 20 to celebrate her rookie status. She stood at the side of her backyard pool as she jumped along a stone pathway through the pool. As she landed on each tile, her swimsuit changed until finally she was decked out in a black one-piece swimsuit by Nia Lynn that read “Rookie 2024” across the bust.
“A pair of heels changed Cinderella’s life... this swimsuit changed mine,” read the on-screen text, as Sims cycled through eight different swimwear looks. She rocked a blue bikini that morphed into a red two-piece, then a patterned strapless number followed by a bright pink-and-purple bikini and more before landing on the final tile. She excitedly threw her hands over her eyes and grinned for the camera.
“Thank YOU for the votes, the support, the reshares, even the hate. It all counted 💙,” Sims noted in her caption. “WE DID IT BABY!!! Beyond honored to be named one of the first rookies for the 60th anniversary issue of @si_swimsuit alongside my fellow Swim Search winners. @theswimfluencenetwork 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🍷🍷🍷🍷😭😭😭🍷🍷😭😇😭.”
Many of Sims’s 283,000 followers, friends and fellow brand stars flooded the comments section with praise.
“CONGRATULATIONS BEAUTIFUL !!!! Welcome to the fam sis 🤍🤍,” 2021 Swim Search co-winner Christen Harper cheered.
“congrats angel!!!!” 2023 SI Swimsuit rookie Sixtine added.
