Jason Clarke is "in the process" of developing a movie.
The Zero Dark Thirty star has been acting since the '90s, with his notable roles including Lawless, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Everest, Terminator Genisys, and Pet Sematary.
Apart from producing a short film back in 2002, Clarke hasn't worked behind-the-scenes on a movie, however, in an exclusive interview with Cover Media, he shared that he's always had a passion to direct and is hoping to get a project off the ground in the near future.
When asked if he's ever considered writing or directing, he replied, "Yes, I am. I'm in the process of that now. I'm just optioning a book and working with a writer.
"It's funny, I used to go through different stages where (I was like), 'I've got to direct, I've got to do this, I've got to (do that)' and now I just truly want to tell a story and meet people out of that... I do love being part of storytelling, I've done a lot of reading, people have sent me a lot of books, podcasts and things and it's OK, well, let's just see where this goes."
The Australian actor hopes to make "something worthwhile" that educates viewers and can have a long shelf-life on streaming services, rather than a studio blockbuster that is more focused on box office performance.
"I think, hopefully I'm right, the streamers and all these big tech companies now, it's not just about bums on seats, that you could have something and it could come around and live a long life and build up numbers and people can watch it," he explained. "(Something that's) quality viewing that gets people educated in a different way. There's nothing wrong with comic books but if that's all we have that's all we will have."
