Up until now, we thought the German Big Brother contestants were the only people who hadn’t been told about the Coronavirus pandemic. We were wrong.

Turns out, Jared Leto’s been meditating under a rock for nearly two weeks – specifically, at a silent retreat in the desert, away from technology, the news cycle and civilisation as a whole.

So when he emerged into the world, no doubt relaxed and primed for a nice natter about the cosmos, he had a lot to catch up on.

"Wow. 12 days ago I began a silent meditation in the desert. We were totally isolated. No phone, no communication etc. We had no idea what was happening outside the facility," he wrote in a post on Instagram.

"Walked out yesterday into a very different world. One that's been changed forever. Mind blowing — to say the least. I'm getting messages from friends and family all around the globe and catching up on what's going on. Hope you and yours are ok. Sending positive energy to all. Stay inside. Stay safe."

A silent retreat in the middle of the desert does sound like a pretty savvy way to self-isolate, but we doubt many people would want to be that disconnected at a time like this. Most celebrities have a pretty cushty set-up, anyway.

Plus, there are ways to be at one with nature and wildlife inside your own house – just ask Arnold.
