This month's new moon peaks at 4:26 a.m. PT on Jan. 29, darkening our night skies just a few weeks after the radiant Wolf Moon dazzled the cosmos with its bright glow on Jan. 13, 2025.
Despite its blacked-out appearance astronomically, the new moon will surely be present astrologically as it boasts notable energy significant to each of our zodiac signs. It will arrive in Aquarius at nine degrees.
While all zodiac signs will be graced with fresh opportunities and new beginnings in the weeks surrounding the new moon, specific themes correlating with the Air sign's vibes will be emphasized. Among them include friendships, communities, volunteering and group activities.
According to celebrity astrologer Kyle Thomas, Aquarius is an "optimistic sign" and will "encourage us to get involved and build a tribe that will support us as we push toward our long-term goals." He says, "You'll likely feel a bit more independent and eager to change up your routine."
As for astrological aspects that will color this lunation, Thomas points out that the new moon in January will be exactly trine Jupiter. "This will bring good feelings, happiness, emotional growth and self-understanding," he explains.
The new moon is also separating from a conjunction with Mercury and Pluto. "This may add a layer of emotional depth, intensity and eagerness to get to the bottom of all personal and professional matters," says Thomas. "Your decisions may feel weighted now and in the six months ahead."
Uranus is the planetary ruler of this lunation and is aligned in a sextile with Venus and Mars. "This can bring exciting and stimulating experiences to us especially when it comes to our personal, intimate or romantic lives," he shares.
