Jana Kramer shares the meaning behind her latest tattoo: 'You can be happy AND hurt'

Jana Kramer is praising therapy — and her latest tattoo.

The One Tree Hill alum, 38, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a message — as well as a photo of her new ampersand tattoo.

Kramer, who split from her husband Mike Caussin in 2021 after allegations of infidelity, began her caption, "Felt so good to be back at therapy today. Focusing and working on mental health is just as important as physical and I'm so grateful to have a sacred place within @refugecenterforcounseling. I'll forever be grateful for my therapist Amy. She has helped me get back to the Jana I lost a lot time ago."

The Whine Down podcast host then explained what’s special about the new ink on her wrist.

"The symbol for me is my symbol for the healing work I've done and continue to do," the mom of two explained. "You can be happy AND hurt/struggle. It's holding space for both. It's saying this is hard AND it's going to be okay. Holding space for both. Holding space for all of you….AND my story is not over yet."

Kramer's followers applauded the message. One wrote, "I LOVE this! I/we are made to believe we can't be happy and hurt/struggle at the same time! Thank you so much!" Another shared, "Thank you for your BEAUTY~full WIDE OPEN Authenticity, we NEED THAT SO MUCH MORE of that in these times."

"Jana, I don't think you know how much your story and your struggles and your victories has touched so many lives. You are a role model of mine for mental health and taking care of myself so I can be a better wife and mother. Thank you for being transparent and vulnerable with your fans," one commented.

Kramer is no stranger to special tattoos. Earlier this year, Kramer shared that she was having a tattoo of her wedding date to Caussin removed. In July 2021, she posted on Instagram that she had gotten the word "Enough" on her forearm as a reminder that she is "good enough."

"It's my constant daily struggle so just like what I needed to believe to do for me I now need that reminder everyday that I'm enough," she wrote at the time. "ALSO a reminder that I'm strong enough to walk through it all!!"
