Jamie Dornan's New Movie Is On Track For An Oscar And We Couldn't Be More Excited

Jamie Dornan's new movie might be on track for an Oscar, and we could not be more excited to watch it.

On Saturday night, the Irish actor's latest movie Belfast took home the coveted People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Nine out of the 10 of the last winners of TIFF's audience-voted top prize have gone on to receive best picture nominations at the Academy Awards.

Belfast is Kenneth Branagh's semi-autobiographical film about a working-class family in the Northern Irish capital in the late 1960s, featuring an all-star cast including Jamie Dornan, Judi Dench and Ciarán Hinds.

Dornan plays the father of Buddy (Jude Hill), a character loosely based on Branagh, opposite Outlander's Caitriona Balfe who plays the lead's mother.

The 39-year-old actor rose to fame playing the force that is Christian Grey in the 50 Shades franchise, and last year starred opposite Emily Blunt in the Ireland-based romcom Old Mountain Thyme.

Dornan recently played Kristen Wiig's love interest in the US comedy Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar.

Belfast brings Dornan back to his roots, and after a strong reception at its world premiere in Toronto, we are counting down the days until its 12th November release.
