It's been a dramatic few days for beauty influencer James Charles. It began when he shared pictures on Instagram showing him with a completely bald head, then he began facing backlash from fans after staging a pregnancy stunt on YouTube and posting pictures of a pregnancy shoot on Instagram. Now, it turns out, he's accidentally ruined the prank he was trying to pull on followers.

It all began at the end of last week when Charles posted a picture to his Instagram Story showing him with what seemed to be a completely bald head, a few days later he posted a picture to his grid confirming that he had entirely shaved his head. Then, all of a sudden his hair appeared to have grown back overnight, after he posted a selfie to his Story showing his hair back to its previous length.

Charles followed up with a video on his Story saying that he was actually trying to prank his fans with the shaved-head picture for a new video called 'bald for 24 hours' and hadn't meant to reveal that it was fake.

"So I posted a selfie on my Story earlier today and now that I'm looking back realised that I actually showed my full head of hair... Surprise! I'm not bald anymore! I literally ruined my own prank."

Charles is currently on a ski trip, and told followers that he had made the mistake of thinking that his hat and goggles had covered up the (quite obvious) quiff visible in the picture.

Recently, Charles has been coming under fire from fans for staging a stunt in which he pretended to be pregnant for 24 hours, wearing a fake baby bump and sharing pictures from a pregnancy photo shoot on Instagram.
