James Argent calls on ex Gemma Collins to call off engagement

James 'Arg' Argent called on his ex Gemma Collins to "call off" her engagement to Rami Hawash during a big night out at the darts.

The Only Way Is Essex stars' on-off romance enthralled fans of the ITV2 reality show for years but Gemma seemingly closed the door on any chance of a reconciliation by announcing her re-engagement to Rami this week.

James, 34, had his say on the engagement during a night out with pals at the PDC World Darts Championship at London's Alexandra Palace, as pictures obtained by The Sun showed him holding up a sign which read, "GC, call off the engagement!!!"

His friend, Jade Goody's widower Jack Tweed, pointed at the sign while laughing, and Arg had a broad smile - so his message to his ex may have been in jest.

Gemma, 40, confirmed she was once again engaged to Rami after rekindling their relationship earlier this year during an interview with The Sunday Times.

"We can't really come out and say anything yet because Ram was married before and his paperwork has not come through, so until that's officially signed, we've not said anything," she said.

"They've not been together for two years. I know her, she's got a partner, she's as good as gold. There's a child involved, he's only three, obviously I love him to death. But until that paperwork's signed I can't come out."

James and Gemma embarked on a turbulent on-off relationship that ended for good last year amid his struggles with his weight and drug addiction. In her Times interview, the reality TV diva claimed she saved his life three times during his drugs battle, but had received no thanks.

Following his addiction fight, the troubled TV star ballooned to 27 stone but has now shed 11 stone after undergoing life-saving gastric surgery.
