Jake Gyllenhaal's wellness routine includes exfoliation and 'intimacy'

Jake Gyllenhaal is well-known for his acting accolades and smouldering good looks, but, it’s transpired he’s also pretty skincare savvy.
The 38-year-old spoke to Vanity Fair about his wellness routine, providing some insight into his grooming regime.
“Because I have an older sister who is an actor—and because she has taught me since I was a kid and I’ve looked up to her—skin care is important” he explained, referencing his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Revealing a recent love for exfoliating, the Spider-Man: Far From Home star said: “Since working in South Korea on a movie, I’ve found exfoliation to be a really wonderful, very manly thing, which I didn’t appreciate as much before.”
Exfoliation could definitely be one of the secrets behind Jake’s radiant complexion. It helps to scrub away dead skin cells and unclog pores - overall making skin look and feel fresher.

“I think caring for yourself is really important, particularly nowadays as men. Being vulnerable and admitting those vulnerabilities is very, very important” said Jake, who is currently starring in the Broadway show, Sea Wall/ A Life.
The actor isn’t the first male celebrity to speak out about his skincare routine.
David Beckham, who created his own male grooming brand in 2018, told Into The Gloss last year that he uses a moisturiser and eye cream every day.

Jake also listed other key factors in his self-care routine, which included rest, exercise and intimacy.
“For me, my best form of self-care is intimacy; that makes me sweat,” he said. “And then I believe in the balance of rest and exercise. It’s really that simple for me.”
