Whether he's trolling New York Fashion Week in normcore or shrugging his way down (yet another) red carpet, Jake Gyllenhaal always seems to manage to look good while appearing to give approximately zero fucks about it.

This week at Rome Film Festival the woke King was at it again, putting a bullet in the head of one of menswear oldest and most out-dated style 'rules' – never mix black with navy - probably, let's face it, without even realising.

Pairing a navy suit with a black shirt and black tie is a combination that would make most of us look like we'd got dressed in the dark on the way to wait tables somewhere, but on Jake comes off as a nonchalant, slick af take on winter tailoring.

Does it help he's a movie star? Of course it does. Should that stop the rest of us from trying? No way. Just keep the style simple and the cut immaculate, and you can be a rule-breaker too.

Probably not on a red carpet, though. That's just for Jake.
