It’s pretty much a given that Jennifer Lopez has abs of steel. Because saying that is like pointing out that the sky is blue. But sometimes J.Lo shows off her seriously toned core in a way that’ll make even seasoned J.Lo fans do a double-take.
Exhibit A: The 52-year-old recently hit the streets of LA in a shirt that just might be the most cropped sweatshirt this world has ever seen. J.Lo paired her boob-length shirt with baggy sweats and accessorised the whole thing with impressively jacked abs. Like, she could seriously give The Rock a run for his money.
Of course, Jenny from the Block didn’t get those abs by accident—she works dang hard for them. Her trainer, David Kirsch told Vogue that their workouts together are 'fast-paced,' adding, 'she’s very focused and high energy.'
What, exactly, is going down in those workouts? 'We mix some cardio, plyometrics, full-body, core, and lower body into her workouts—they are very, very intense and she takes it very seriously, which is exciting for someone like me,' Kirsch said. 'You say, "we’re going to do this", and she’s like, "great!"' Sumo lunges, sidekicks, and plyometric squat jumps are typically on the menu, BTW.
'Jennifer and I do a lot of platypus walks with a wide stance,' Kirsch said. 'Also known as a sumo walking squat. It’s great for your inner thighs and butt.'
Of course, J.Lo doesn’t just work with one trainer (because, J.Lo). Another one of her trainers, Dodd Romero, told Oprah Daily that Jenny works out four to five days a week for at least an hour at a time.
And then there are her completely intense abs workouts, which Romero shared with Oprah Daily. It includes doing 50 hanging ab raises, 50 rope crunches, 50 incline sit ups with a 45 pound plate, followed by 35 reps of everything, and then 21 reps of the series. Aaand she doesn’t take breaks in between. Because of course she doesn’t.
Kirsch has also shared a video on Instagram of J.Lo working her way through medicine ball sit-ups like a total boss.
