Is This Lena Dunham’s First 'Cool’ Outfit in Nearly 2 Decades?

Lena Dunham reached a major milestone on Wednesday night: looking “cool” for the first time in 17 years — at least, according to Jemima Kirke.

The creator and star of Girls participated in a panel titled “TimesTalks: A Final Farewell to the Cast of HBO’s Girls” with the rest of the cast, and she wore a very edgy ensemble for the occasion. Rocking her new ombre hairdo, Dunham paired a blue and black crop top with a black midi mesh skirt. The top had short sleeves and a high neck and the skirt showed off her curves. She rounded out the outfit with black pointy-toed strappy heels.

Her makeup was very Barbie, thanks to heavy bright blue eye shadow and equally luminescent pink lips. She wore her brown and blonde hair half up.

And apparently, the look was a big hit with her colleagues. She posted a photo on Instagram of her and costars Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, and Kirke, with the caption, “Btw Jemima told me I looked cool for the first time in like 17 years. Win!” There’s nothing better than getting outfit approval from your super stylish BFF.”

It’s not immediately clear as to why Dunham’s undergone a makeover (perhaps she split ties with longtime stylist Shirley Kurata), but breaking up is hard to do and sometimes a shopping spree and hair change helps.
