Already, 2019 has been a momentous year for women.

From January, women in Ireland were able to have legal abortions for the first time.

In March, the Government launched its voluntary Investing in Women Code, which will force financial institutions to help close the funding gap for Britain’s female entrepreneurs.

And, in April, an algorithm created by 29-year-old Dr Katie Bouman, gave the world its first ever photograph of a black hole.

Not bad going - but we have a feeling the rest of the year could look even brighter.

To stay in the know, you can sign up to the Telegraph’s new newsletter The 51 Per Cent. Our weekly email bulletin - written by the Telegraph’s Women’s Editor Claire Cohen - will bring you the talking points of the week, every Thursday from April 18.

Claire's reactive, straight-talking opinions will get both women and men fired up. Plus, she will be sharing ‘must read’ articles and the eyebrow-raising stories that need to be on your radar.

There will also be honest and practical work advice from women who really know what they’re talking about - because women are more than half the population, but still playing catch up pretty much everywhere else.

The newsletter is for all Telegraph registrants, so sign up now and receive brilliant new writing, delivered directly to your inbox. You won't be able to read it anywhere else.

If you’re not already registered to the Telegraph, it’s free and easy to do. Simply fill in your email address to create an account – you’ll receive access to our newsletters, one Premium article per week and Telegraph Premium news, offers and updates.

Don’t miss the chance to get The 51 Per Cent. It might be in a woman’s words - but that doesn’t mean it’s just for women.
