A 78-year-old woman has gone viral after her granddaughter shared a photograph of her enviable skin via Reddit.
Alongside an image of her grandmother‘s glowing complexion, the user known as @ucancallmekt wrote: “My 78-year-old grandmother is a poster child for Retin-A! She’s been using it since it was first released on the market. My friend just started Retin-A and is complaining about the side effects, so I snapped this photo at Mother’s Day Brunch to prove to her it works!”
She added, “My grandma started Retin-A for adult acne right when it was first released on the market. She was one of her dermatologist’s first patients to try it.”
And just like that, the Internet was blown away.
One user wrote, “Holy mother of cucumber! She sure is ageing gracefully! I hope this would be me too when I am older.”
While another commented: “She’s glowing. I spent years in the medical field so I treated a lot of elderly PTs (and I’d always know their exact age, unlike in a social situation) – you almost never see a 78 year old looking like that. Amazing.”
Retin-A is a retinoid which was originally produced over twenty years ago in order to combat adult acne. However, many now look to the cream in order to help slow down the ageing process.
Backed up by strong evidence, Retin-A is proven to improve skin texture which in turn, means pores are less likely to become clogged. Retin-A also helps to boost collagen, which is responsible for our skin’s firmness and elasticity.
Another secret to her grandmother’s youthful looks is her go-to moisturiser, Oil of Olay. And other Reddit users were quick to confirm the beauty must-have’s secret benefits.
One wrote, “My grandma also swears by Oil of Olay! She just turned 93 and most people say she looks 70.”
While another added, “I have used Oil of Olay since I was a teenager and I’m 48 now. My friends are convinced I drink the blood of babies but really I stay out of the sun and use Olay.”
So there you have it. We’ll be stocking up the next time we hit the high street and fingers crossed, we’ll look just as glowing.
