Inside Phillip Schofield's family life including 30 year marriage and kids
Phillip Schofield departed This Morning, where he was famous for presenting alongside Holly Willoughby, amid a storm of controversy in May last year and has barely been seen since - until he surprised everyone by appearing on Channel 5 in the show Cast Away this week, settling old scores while battling for survival on a desert island.
But as well as showing the 62-year-old catching sea creatures and scaling mountains, it also gave a very rare look inside his family life, with his wife Stephanie Lowe and daughters shown seeing him off and enjoying a barbecue before his departure, even saying at one point that were it not for his children he might not be here today.
Phillip has been married to his wife Stephanie Lowe since 1993, and the pair share two daughters, Molly and Ruby. Phillip's wife
Phillip married wife Stephanie, 60, in 1993, and the pair have remained married for 30 years. Together, they live in Henley-on-Thames and Philip once told Christine Lampard how they met, during an interview on Lorraine.
He said: “She worked in television years ago, that was how we met, so she can do it [television], she just doesn't want to these days."
Together, the pair lived in a stunning home, and Phillip would often post pictures to Instagram showing off their stylish interiors and amazing garden. As Cast Away showed he still lives in the family home, where he has his own bedroom. However, he has moved away before and once had his own £2m west London bachelor pad.
Phillip has credited his wife as having provided “strength and support” during the process of him coming out. He said: “This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home. I have been married to Steph for nearly 27 years, and we have two beautiful grown-up daughters, Molly and Ruby.
“My family have held me so close; they have tried to cheer me up, to smother me with kindness and love, despite their own confusion. Yet still I can’t sleep and there have been some very dark moments.”
The couple have remained close despite Phillip coming out as gay. Talking to The Mirror, Phil previously explained that he and Steph have no plans to divorce, saying: "We’re picking our way through. It’s a work in progress." He added: "I’m still married to Steph. With divorce… we’ve not discussed that at all.”
In his autobiography Life’s What You Make It, Phil stated: "I didn’t know I was gay when I married Steph. If I had, I wouldn’t have got married."
Phillip's daughters
Phillip’s eldest daughter is 31, and named Molly. She works as his publicist and on Cast Away has been unwavering in her support for her dad. She said: "When my dad came out, it was... very hard for me, it was very hard for the entire family mainly my mum, of course everything was turned upside down."
She added: "But we talked through it, and over time it's got easier. You know, my mum, my sister, we're all the same, we will always continue to support him no matter what."
Molly explained: "We've seen him at his lowest times, but I've been so proud of him, and as a daughter to see the love that people had for him that when it's taken away it's just heartbreaking."
Molly has more than 66,000 followers on Instagram, where she posts pictures of her glam life with friends and family, and shots of her globe-trotting life. Her bio once read: “I intend to live forever. So far, so good.”
Philip’s youngest daughter is named Ruby, 28, a university graduate who attended Leeds and achieved a 2:1 degree. Ruby is known for her love of attending festivals, and regularly posts pictures of her family. She has an impressive following on Instagram of 79,000 and wows with her forward-thinking fashion and outfits which she shares with her fans.
