Steve Irwin
The late wildlife enthusiast was known across the globe as the ‘Crocodile Hunter’. Despite spending his life getting up close and personal with killer crocs, yet in an ironic twist of fate the Australian zookeeper met his demise after being stabbed in the chest by a stingray just off the Great Barrier Reef in 2006. Steve was tracking a deadly tiger shark whilst filming a new show called ‘Ocean’s Deadliest’ when he swam over the usually docile fish that mistook his shadow for a shark before plunging the deadly barb deep into his chest. Irwin's cameraman Justin Lyons said: “It went through his chest like a hot knife through butter. "It probably thought Steve's shadow was a tiger shark, who feeds on them pretty regularly, so it started to attack him. "As we're motoring back, I'm screaming at one of the other crew in the boat to put their hand over the wound, and we're saying to him things like, ‘Think of your kids, Steve, hang on, hang on, hang on.' He just sort of calmly looked up at me and said, ‘I'm dying.’ And that was the last thing he said.”©BANG Showbiz - 3/11
Harry Houdini
Houdini is one of the most famous magicians of all time thanks to his grand illusions and death defying stunts. However, the great performer actually died on Halloween 1926 from a ruptured appendix after being punched in the stomach by an over excited fan. Harry, who claimed he could withstand the hardest punches, wasn’t prepared for the onslaught which burst his appendix resulting in appendicitis. He was 52.©BANG Showbiz - 4/11

Aeschylus
The Ancient Greek tragedian is often referred to as the father of tragedy so it’s only fitting he died in the most tragic way. An oracle once told a young Aeschylus he’d die after being struck in the skull by a falling object. In order to avoid the prophecy from coming true, the playwright often spent his days outside not realising that’s where the peril lay. Aeschylus met his demise aged 77 whilst visiting Gela in Sicily in 455 BC after becoming a victim to his bald head which an eagle mistook for a rock and dropped a tortoise on. Birds have been known to use rocks to crack the shells of their prey.©BANG Showbiz - 8/11

The Pulitzer Prize winning playwright - best known for writing a ‘Cat On a Hot Tin Roof’ - died on 25 February, 1983 after choking to death on a bottle cap from an eye drop dispenser. Williams, who was 71 at the time of his death, was found in the early hours of the morning in his suite at the Elysee Hotel off Park Ave. Chief Medical Examiner Elliot Gross said at the time: “Why it (the cap) was there, I cannot say. “It was a very rapid death. The autopsy did not reveal anything unusual in regards to a man of this age. “The cause of death is asphyxia due to obstruction of the glottis, the opening to larynx or upper air way, by a plastic overcap of the type used to cover the opening of a nasal spray or ophthalmic solution dispenser.”©BANG Showbiz - 11/11
Mary Queen of Scots
Mary Stuart, known as Mary Queen of Scots is one of the most famous figure in Scottish history. The controversial queen provided enough tragedy and romance throughout her life that she’s often the subject of period dramas and has been portrayed by Hollywood actresses such as Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan and Adelaide Kane. After 19 years imprisonment for plotting to assassinate her cousin Queen Elizabeth I of England, Mary was executed at Fotheringhay Castle in England on February 8 1587 by the orders of Elizabeth. But Mary’s death was a bloody affair and went anything but smoothly. The executioner delivered multiple blows with the axe after missing the target as the blade didn’t to clean through. Mary’s servant noted that her lips remained moving “a quarter of an hour” after the decapitation.©BANG Showbiz
