Iman launches a fragrance inspired by her romance with David Bowie

Supermodel and philanthropist Iman has launched her first ever fragrance, an ode to her late husband David Bowie, and their fairytale partnership.

Called Love Memoir, the pandemic project pays tribute to their marriage of 24 years both in its concept and composition.

The notes celebrate Iman's memories with Bowie, from vetiver, which he wore the day they met and thereafter; to bergamot and blackberry, bringing to mind the Florence countryside where they wed; and rose, a nod to to his British heritage.

The bottle too recalls special moments spent together. The amber glass is shaped like cairn stacking stones, used from prehistoric times to the present, which remain in their shared New York garden. Iman now practices the ritual of stacking the stones on her walks around the property in his honour, she tells Vogue US.

"David is in our hearts and minds on a daily basis, for all of us," she says of her family when speaking to Bazaar earlier this year.

On his passing from liver cancer five years ago, which she describes as "the saddest time", Iman said she is consoled by the sense that he is still with her. "He’s hiding in plain sight. His fans are still around, his music is still relevant." Now, with Love Memoir, his presence – and their eternal love – is immortalised in another way.

The eau de parfum is currently only available in the US exclusively via hsn.com, though hopefully global delivery will follow soon.
