The I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! camp has been battered by torrential rain, leaving parts of the jungle flooded and production crews for the hit ITV show scrambling to manage the chaos. Four days of continuous downpours have wreaked havoc around the camp in the Australian jungle, with nearby roads submerged and access to certain areas severely restricted.

In last night’s episode, hosts Ant and Dec were even forced to deliver their live segment huddled under umbrellas, braving the relentless rain while standing in front of the drenched jungle backdrop and joking: “'It's raining Koalas and Dingos here!”

Despite their gags, the soggy conditions add an extra level of difficulty to the already tough experience - with last year’s contestants Jamie Lynn Spears and Grace Dent both leaving the show early in the face of gruelling weather conditions.

New photos from the camp show paths and the surrounding areas completely submerged in water, with vehicles attempting to get through deep water and signs warning of road closures.

The constant downpours have not only tested the patience of the camp’s celebrity contestants but has also caused serious logistical headaches for the production team, who must now work to keep the show running smoothly despite the weather disruptions.

While the camp does have a retractable canopy 50 feet in the air above where the campmates sleep, this doesn’t protect from all of the rain - it helps to keep the fire lit, but, the Mail reports, rain drops still slip off and hit the celebs while they’re sleeping.

As the first week of I’m A Celeb continues, the wet weather is shaping up to be an unexpected extra challenge for its cast - but at least some of its A-listers have been able to laugh along at the jungle’s relentless downpours, and even embrace the chaos.

Speaking on the show, McFly's Danny Jones said: “Since it's rained I've not washed. Don't fight it, just stink! What do spiders do? They don't get up and shower, do they? They just go 'I'm gonna go out for the day'”

Still, soggy sleeping bags and soggier celebs isn’t fun for everyone - and could even result in its celebs leaving the show early. The Mail reports that a source said: “The jungle camp cannot cope with this level of rain and the thing is, when it rains like this, it's not fun for anyone involved. In fact, it's miserable. It dampens the mood and ultimately ruins the show.”

It’s not just the weather which has caused tension in the jungle already, either. Ant McPartlin has recently admitted that he was 'unprofessional' after getting annoyed with I'm A Celeb star on air.
