Matt Hancock narrowly escaped flashing the nation in the final trial of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2022.

The former health secretary dubbed himself the Bronze Bronco after being given a tiny pair of bronze shorts for the Celebrity Cyclone trial, but after an impressive start dropped his stars to try and hold on to his dignity.

Hancock shouted: "My shorts were falling down!"

The 44-year-old MP had declared before the trial: “I am the Bronze Bronco and I’m holding on for dear life.”

Hancock confessed: "I never thought I'd make it as far as the Celebrity Cyclone... This is the one trial you look forward to.”

The politician had got off to an impressive start in the trial - diving into the plunge pool and striding up the slip stream, grabbing the stars from footballer Jill Scott before he began being pelted with water jets and yoga balls, that pushed him back to the start.

He then dropped a star to grab hold of his slipping shorts and stop them falling off.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly laughed: "That's what you get for being cocky - too Hancocky!"

Rugby player Mike Tindall then tackled Hancock to grab the stars for his part of the challenge.

Afterwards Hancock said of being pelted with the jet streams: "Give the people what they want, a big target and they loved it. And then I got landed on by Mike Tindall.”

Many viewers were uncomfortable seeing Hancock in the tiny shiny shorts.

One tweeted: "Matt Hancock in spandex shorts is making me feel physically ill."

Another said: "I can never unsee Matt Hancock in those shorts. Thanks a lot @imacelebrity."

And one viewer commented: "Whenever I see Matt Hancock in the house of commons now all I will see is the image of him in those tighttttt short shorts seared into my brain I don't think he cares what anyone thinks of him as he's getting a big, fat cheque for all this #ImACeleb."

Earlier in camp Tindall had turned Hancock's jumper over to hide the number for viewers to call to vote for the MP to win.

The rugby player told the Bush Telegraph: “Matt’s making sure his t-shirt and his phone numbers are on display at all times. Matt clearly wants to win.

“I’m taking great pleasure in turning it around every time he leaves camp.

“Once a politician, always a politician. Always polling for votes.”

Hancock, Tindall and Scott are in the final four with Hollyoaks star Owen Warner.
