Ice rinks in Yorkshire: The best places to skate Christmas 2024
The countdown to Christmas is officially on and it's time to start planning our festive activities.
We have put together some of the best places across Yorkshire to go ice skating - an activity which promises to be lots of fun for all the family. There is plenty to do at the sites and if you do not like ice skating, do not worry as there are also Christmas markets and Santa's Grottos as well as shows and rides.
If it is the case of being like a Bambi on ice, then some of the locations do feature quiet sessions along with lessons or aids to help you feel more confident and looking like a pro. So, there is no excuse in missing out on the fun this festive period!

Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland
Address: Designer Outlet York, St Nicholas Ave, Fulford, York YO19 4TA
Opening dates: November 15 - January 5
Opening hours: 9am - 9pm. Skate in 45 minute sessions
Embracing the happy world of HARIBO as this years theme, there is no doubt that Yorkshire's Winter Wonderland will be one of the best places to countdown the days to Christmas. The 975 sq m rink is the largest in the North of England and will not only be surrounded by an illuminated woodland but also a 30ft high HARIBO-themed Christmas tree with a HARIBO Goldbear.
There will also be a rink-side cafe and terrace as well as a viewing platform.
This year Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland will also be using upgraded ice rink technology which the organisers think will provide a better skating experience. There is also two additional skating sessions per day, as well as a Frequent Skater Pass for those wishing to make the most of the seven-week season.

Leeds Ice Cube

Get ready to celebrate the holiday season as Ice Cube at Christmas is back at Leeds City Centre. The much-loved event will spread holiday cheer throughout Millennium Square, Victoria Gardens, and Cookridge Street, featuring an array of winter-themed activities and attractions for everyone to enjoy such as ice skating which only closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Stockeld Park - The Christmas Adventure

Opening dates: November 16 - January 6
A magical experience awaits you at Stockeld Park as visitors can combine ice skating sessions with a walk around an Enchanted Forest to look at the brilliant Winter Illuminations, and finish the day exploring a Snowflake Maze!
The 630m² ice rink is made from real ice, and is available to enjoy every day from the (with the exception of Christmas Day and Boxing Day). It's then open every weekend throughout January and February, and throughout February half term. Click here for more information
White Rose Shopping Centre

Get your skates on - the ice rink is back at White Rose Shopping Centre and will feature a Disco Night as well as a quiet session and parent & toddler sessions. The rink is fully covered, so the festive fun can be enjoyed come rain, snow or shine. Click here for more information
The Rink Harrogate

Immerse yourself in the magic of Christmas at one of Harrogate's best Christmas ice rinks. The festive experience is open during the holidays and closed on New Year's Day. An enchanting carousel joins the ice rink in Crescent Gardens this year to add to the festive atmosphere. There will also be Bungee Trampolines, a Frozen Swing and Game Stalls for more entertainment.
