Huw Edwards out of hospital after pneumonia battle
BBC newsreader Huw Edwards has revealed he recently left hospital after overcoming pneumonia.
The 58-year-old tweeted to thank the NHS hospital he was treated in and to assure followers he will be back on air this week.
He also urged people to follow lockdown guidelines amid the current ongoing coronavirus crisis.
His tweet read: “Big thanks to @KingsCollegeNHS for superb care #pneumonia I'll be back at @BBCNews this week — keep safe everyone and follow the guidelines #StayHomeSaveLives.”

It included a photo of Edwards looking healthy and holding a lager in a sunny garden.

Pneumonia is caused when bacterial infection leads to inflammation of tissue in the lungs, and symptoms include coughing, chest pain and difficulty breathing. It can be fatal.
Edwards received a host of tributes and well-wishes from his thousands of followers.

Channel 4’s Marcus Edwards tweeted: “V pleased to hear you’re on the mend. Take it steady!”
His fellow Welsh native Liz Saville Roberts MP wrote: “Balch iawn, iawn dy fod yn well,” which, according to Google Translate. means: Very proud, well you are better.

Author Kate Williams wrote: “Oh no, you had this, so sorry and very glad to hear you’re feeling better!”
Edwards joined the BBC as a news trainee in 1984 and has been the main presenter on BBC1’s Ten O’Clock News since 2003.
In 2019 he was at the helm of through-the-night BBC coverage of the general election for the first time, succeeding long-serving election host David Dimbleby.
He lives in London with BBC producer wife Vicky and their five children.
