It's the most magical time of the year, but family squabbles can still arise, even on Christmas Day. One woman was left disgruntled when her husband decided to ignore one of their children on Christmas Day, all because they didn't follow his "shower rules".

The mum expressed her distress and frustration at her husband's strictness, especially on a day when families usually set aside their differences to make the day as special as possible. The mother of two explained that their children are 25 and 21, and her husband refused to "host or entertain" them "because one of them hasn't had a shower for two days".

The stressed mum took to Mumsnet to say that she didn't agree with the petty reason her husband ignored their kids, saying that how often they shower is their "business," and they shouldn't get involved with it for no reason.

She wrote: "I say it's their business and we should have a good Christmas. The one that hasn't showered still lives with us, and the older one is visiting with a partner. I'm trying to manage the situation, but I'm upset and stressed that he wants to impose his 'rules' on Christmas Day".

In a later update, she clarified what she meant by he was refusing to host them, sharing: "When I say host/entertain, what I mean is they are here at our house, but he’s staying away from them and not being friendly."

In the comments, people were divided, with some saying that if the younger one was "stinky," they could understand why he'd be a bit irritated.

One wrote: "Not having a shower for a couple of days is a bit manky, but your husband needs to get over himself," especially because it's during the Christmas period.

"But they are his children? What an absolute weirdo your husband is. It’s Christmas! Also, it’s hardly like they haven’t showered for 2 months, is it," somebody fumed.

Another raged: "Your husband thinks it's essential for humans to shower every day? Good thing he wasn't born a few years earlier. Does he think he can impose a rule about showering on another adult? You're not being unreasonable to be upset that he's sulking about it".

The mum even shared more details, writing: "She smells nice - he monitors how often the shower has done for years I just think why spoil Xmas day for that?"

One Mumsnet user branded the dad as "pathetic," saying that if it's that "big of an issue" for him, he needs to speak to his daughter directly rather than "ignoring them on Christmas Day".
