Hundreds of Middlesbrough residents have been left stunned after learning their postcode sector, TS5 7, is the winner of a huge £10.2 million prize with the Postcode Lottery.

Lottery players in the winning postcode sector will share the £10.2 million prize. They have been told they can expect to win at least £4,000 each.

The full winning postcode will be revealed on Saturday, April 1 at a special event at Centre Square. People playing with this postcode will take home the biggest cheques on the day.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt will be at the event on Saturday to present winners with the good news in person.

She said: “A massive congratulations to our players in Middlesbrough! I’m really excited to meet many of the winners in person and present them with a prize cheque of their own.

“The community will be buzzing with excitement right now and I can’t wait to celebrate with them on Saturday.”

It’s not the first visit the lottery has made to the area in recent months. Just last month, four players in Stockton netted £175,000, while neighbours in Hemlington bagged a £140,000 Valentine’s Day treat.

Pensioners Glenn and Pamela Handley were two of the recent winners in Teesside scooping £35,000 each and couldn't believe their luck.

Glenn said: “I’m flabbergasted! I didn’t think anything like this would happen to us. You read about it and see it on the TV, but you don’t believe it will ever happen.”

Pamela added: “Dreams do come true.”

Local causes have also benefitted from player support. Eden Place was awarded £20,000 last year to help disadvantaged groups in Middlesbrough through the provision of advice, education support and training.

This Postcode Millions draw was held on behalf of Postcode Children Trust, which funds charities including Barnardos, Children North East, Daisy Chain and Young Lives vs Cancer.
