Hotel restaurant launches 'couple competition' for Valentine's meal
A hotel is celebrating the opening of its restaurant by inviting couples to enjoy the language of love.
voco Oxford Thames hotel, Sandford, is speaking the language of love and calling on the county’s couples to tell their love story and be one of the first to enjoy the hotel’s newly refurbished restaurant, Napier’s.
Much has been said over the years about food being the language of love, so to celebrate the opening of Napier’s, and the launch of its new Valentine’s Day menu, voco Oxford Thames is calling on couples to share funny stories around first dates, how they met and why their love story deserves a treat.

The couple whose story is voted as the best by the hotel team will enjoy the Valentine’s Day menu worth £120 per couple, and be one of the first to dine in the new-look Napier’s restaurant.
Napier’s is inspired by modern French dining, with a focus on local Oxfordshire produce.
The winning couple will enjoy amuse-bouche on arrival, followed by oysters and chateaubriand to share, and will finish with an assiette of chocolate.
The Valentine’s Day menu, which will be available to external guests and those staying in the hotel on February 14, has been created by the hotel’s Executive Chef, Ciprian Dumitrache, who was inspired by the wealth of local produce available around Oxfordshire and the stunning river setting of the hotel.
James Bell, voco Oxford Thames Hotel Manager, said: “To celebrate the re-opening of our restaurant in the hotel, which coincides with Valentine’s Day, we wanted to make it an extra special occasion for one Oxfordshire couple.
“So we are calling on local couples to come and enjoy the language of love in the beautiful setting of our new Napier’s restaurant, on us.
“All couples need to do is tell us why they deserve a treat and share any funny stories of their relationship with us. Love is definitely in the air at voco!”
Couples are invited to nominate themselves by emailing Wendy.Procter@ihg.com by February 10, 2023, explaining why they deserve the night away, in no more than 200 words.
The winning nomination will be chosen by the hotel team.
The restaurant, which was named after the story of George Napier, a priest, who was a previous owner and inhabitant of the house and farm, from 1550 until 1610 when it existed on the grounds of the hotel, has views out onto grounds and across to the River Thames.
Napier’s officially opens on February 14. For more information and to book, visit oxfordthames.vocohotels.com/eat/napiers-restaurant/.
