Hot trend alert: Ruffle your way into autumn

From Givenchy to Lanvin, ruffles have been popping up here, there and everywhere since the Spring/Summer’16 catwalks. Usually these fly away trends become ‘uncool’ and we wonder why we have wasted £200 in Zara trying to replicate Alessandra Ambrosio’s Coachella style when we know very well that our British pasty legs and normal size torso won’t compare to that of the Victoria’s Secret angel, resulting in us feeling like an overweight, out of date potato. Only for us to do it all again when we see the new ‘Fall’ trends and run straight back in to Zara. Well here is the good news…ruffles are going nowhere! They hide a multitude of sins, especially approaching Autumn where our bodies turn from a potato into that of a hibernating hamster that seems to store every ounce we put on preparing for us for the cold. Here are 3 ways to rock the ruffles this winter:
Shirts

Shirts can be boring but essential if smart wear is your work rule. Jazzing them up with some ruffles adds fun to the sophisticated look that can be taken from the office to the bar. Classic, youthful and looks perfect styled under a light suede jacket and slim fitting jeans or black trousers.
Dresses

Ruffles on dresses look pretty and slimming. Diverting attention away from any body hang-ups they can skim over them smoothly. They are currently swarming the high street so there’s no need to break the bank (unless you want to). Treat yourself and go bold, pick the most fun, most ruffled and most glam dress you can!

Nothing makes us look forward to Autumn more than the cosiness of wooly jumpers and a pumpkin spice latte. Why not add a fashion statement into this and you have the perfect combination. For those that aren’t quite daring enough to pull off the all over ruffle, why not go for the hem? Subtle yet beautiful ruffles work just as well and gives your Autumn look a new twist.
