Is it just us, or does it feel like the love for Home Alone has been THRIVING this year? Maybe it's because the film is celebrating its 30th (!) anniversary, or because viewers are noticing new things every time they watch it - including this frustrating plot hole.

After fans on Twitter pointed out the potential reason why Kevin was left behind from the family holiday, other viewers have now spotted a continuity error.

The night before the McAllisters leave Chicago for Paris, a fallen tree cuts the electricity out in the neighbourhood, meaning their alarm clocks don't go off and they're late for their flight.

As well as this contributing to how Kevin gets left behind, it also means that when they realise what's happened on arrival to Paris, they're unable to phone Kevin and check he's OK - because the power lines are down.

So why, then, is Kevin able to phone for a pizza just hours later?

As Screen Rants points out:

"While alone in the McCallisters mansion, Kevin orders pizza. He'd need a phone to do this since it's the year is 1990 and you can't really order food via an app or website. He doesn't have one of those early cell phones either. A few minutes earlier, the phone lines were down. Despite this, he still manages to order pizza from the house and have it delivered."

Hmm. Were the phone lines magically fixed? Did Kevin have a secret mobile? We need answers.
