Anyone who's celebrated a birthday in lockdown (which is, by now, most of us) will probably know the feeling of disappointment at not being able to have celebrations with loved ones.

Someone who's likely feeling that today is This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby, although she's found a truly special way to keep the spirit of her mum with her on a milestone birthday.

Holly is celebrating her 40th today (10 February) and while she's missing her parents, a floral dress is keeping them connected.

The presenter took to Instagram to share a side by side image of herself today, posing with birthday decorations, and a throwback photo of her mum. While the snaps are taken years apart, both women are wearing the same black floral dress.

"This photo of my Mum was taken on her 40th birthday at the party she had in the garden. I remember this day so clearly. It’s a strange thing to reach the age you remember your Mum being!" Holly said.

"I asked her if she’d kept the dress and of course she had... Strange moment zipping it up this morning, wondering how she felt on her big day... I can’t be with my Mum or Dad today but wearing this in her honour makes me feel closer to them... love you Mumma!"

We love this sweet idea! And it's not the only way Holly has been ringing in the big 4 0. She previously shared that while filming Dancing on Ice, her colleagues had kicked off her birthday week with decorations and cake.

"Thank you @dancingonice for making me feel so special... it’s kicked off my birthday week in style... honestly felt overwhelmingly spoilt today with all the decorations and cake!!!! Thank you.... love you to bits!"

So, while it's probably not the 40th Holly had in mind, it seems like she's certainly making the most of it. Happy birthday, Holly!
