In March, Hilary Duff welcomed her third child, an adorable baby girl named Mae James Blair, and since then she's kept her followers updated with everything from cute baby pictures to candid conversations about breastfeeding.
Now, four months after Mae's birth – which took place at home, Hilary feels ready to share more details about the delivery. She's taken to Instagram to give a moving account of how her support system helped her through, along with beautiful and intimate pictures documenting the wonder of bringing new life into the world.
In the pictures, Hilary can be seen in her bedroom, sitting on top of an exercise ball and holding onto the post of her bed to steady herself, with a composed and determined expression. Some of the images feature husband Matthew Koma, and doula Molly, who Hilary thanked for bringing different energies to her birth experience.
'My hubby is the most calm anchor in the room when I feel like climbing the walls and my little Molly is an extraordinary doula who sat with me when I needed to be still and quiet,' Hilary said, adding her mum was also on hand with important support.
'My own mama was there to make all the snacks and watch with a big nervous smile as her baby brings her a new grandbaby earthside. The help that I have to support my other children while I am not able is maybe the most comforting thought of all. All hands on deck. Forever lol,' she added.
In another of the pictures Hilary shared, a board of inspiration can be seen balancing on top of a bathtub. The pinboard features the names of Hilary's two older children, Luca and Banks, as well as different words of positivity and affirmation.
As well as giving her fans a glimpse into Mae's birth story, Hilary has shared the intimate and moving pictures to praise mums everywhere and highlight the strength they hold.
'This is hard work… every way a woman brings a baby in is. From getting pregnant, to c-sections, hospital or home births, the breastfeeding journey... and raising these little beings responsibly to be stand up, confident, kind citizens of the world. It’s completely consuming. A tedious, magical, miraculous adventure… So cheers almighty mothers. You make mountains move daily,' she concluded her post by saying.
Just us who's feeling all the feelings looking through these pictures? We love that Hilary is a champion of normalising all topics of conversation around pregnancy, birth and motherhood. Long may it continue.
