It's certainly no easy feat to hide nearly two dozen tattoos for years on end. Yet, somehow, Hilary Duff has become the queen of secret tattoos. With at least 23 tiny tattoos all over her body, she nails the strategy better than most. This is mainly because she gets most on the insides of her arms, ankles, or wrists. But she still has a few larger, more revealing pieces.
During a 2015 interview on The Ellen Show, Hilary revealed that while she loves tattoos, 'part of me doesn’t want the full commitment of getting to see them all the time,' she said. At the time, Hilary only had 15, and since then, she's added to the collection. TBH, her fans probably wouldn't be surprised if she decided to get a few more.
Hilary recently told Women's Health that she has so many at this point that she sometimes forgets the actual tally. 'I have some tattoos that I got very early on that, of course, aren’t my favourite anymore. But they’re just a part of me,' she explains. She describes her style as 'earthy; and also revealed that some of her ink is dedicated to her kids and long-time friends. Hilary is no stranger to matching tattoos, either!

1) Wishbone
An oldie but a goodie is Hilary's wishbone tattoo. The exact year she got it done is unknown, but many fans believe she got it around 2011, per Refinery 29.

2) Bird
Hilary's bird tattoo is one of the larger ones on her body, but the ink is so light that it's still hard to fully make out. According to Hilary, the tattoo 'doesn't really mean anything,' she told Refinery 29.

3) "Luca"
A few years back, Hilary got her son's name, Luca, tattooed on her right wrist in cursive. At 10 years old, he's the oldest of her three kids.

4) Red heart
Hilary doesn't have a lot of colourful tattoos. So, when she got a red heart on her wrist, fans were quick to notice. In 2013, she shared an IG photo with the caption, 'All is full of love...'

5) Two cents
Hilary seems to be big on getting tattoos with loved ones. One of many matching friend tattoos is Hilary's two cents ink on her arm. She apparently got this one with her friend Alanna Masterson.

6) "Stand By Me"
Hilary has a few small phrases that she's gotten inked over the years. She had the words 'Stand By Me' written on her inner right elbow. Could it be an allusion to the Ben E. King song?

7) "Let It Be..."
She also has the phrase 'Let It Be' written in script on her right foot. This one definitely seems like it could definitely be an ode to The Beatles' famous tune.

8) Ride or die ghosts
Adding to her list of matching tattoos is another tattoo with Alanna Masterson. This time, the friends went for a ghost tattoo where the hem of the cloak has the words 'Ride or Die' written in script. Hilary got the ink in 2014 and told Refinery 29 that the ghost is 'definitely my favourite and no one really knows it's there.' She added that 'the ghost doesn't really represent anything.'

9) "Thick As Thieves"
One of Hilary's older tattoos is the phrase 'Thick As Thieves' written on the inside of her arm. Her sister, Haylie Duff, has a matching one.

10) "BK"
Once upon a time, Hilary lived in Brooklyn, New York, while filming the TV show Younger and apparently, she loved living there. So, it comes as no surprise that she got the letters 'BK' tatted on her arm (BK is the abbreviation for Brooklyn).

11) Arrow and crescent moon
Another one of Hilary's tattoos that takes up a bit more real estate is her arrow and crescent moon piece on the inside of her arm. If you look closely, you can even make out a few tiny stars. Over the years, it has faded quite a bit.

Hilary is a big fan of ink by Dr. Woo. In 2016, she got two delicate, intricate roses done on her upper arm. The detail is simply incredible.

13) "Take Fountain"
Another tattoo by Dr. Woo shows the phrase 'Take Fountain.' The phrase came from a Bette Davis interview during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, per a Refinery29 article.
Carson asked what advice she'd give to aspiring actors, and Bette said, 'Take Fountain,' which is an avenue that leads to Hollywood and is supposed to be a quicker route than taking Sunset, Hollywood, or Santa Monica Boulevards.

14) Dotted sun
This stunning sun design is tatted on Hilary's forearm by Daniel Winter (a.k.a. Winter Stone) in LA. Winter used dots and thin linework for a simplistic edge. He's a well-known celeb tattoo artist and has even inked up stars like Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Emma Roberts, Joe Jonas and Mandy Moore, per The Hollywood Reporter.
