A clothes retailer with seven branches in the North East has announced the closure of all its stores.

M&Co, formerly Mackeys, went into administration in December 2022 for a second time in just over two years.

It has now announced that it will be closing all 170 of its stores this year.

Despite being bought by AK Retail Holdings the purchase did not include physical stores, meaning they will all now close their doors this spring.

The company said on social media: "Unfortunately we haven't received the news we would have hoped for during our administration period and would like to share this news with you.

"As we haven't received any funded, deliverable offers that would result in the transfer of the company's stores or staff to a potential buyer, this means that all of our stores will close."

The firm urged customers to use any gift cards by the end of the month as they will no longer be accepted after

Closures will affect stores in Ripon, Malton, Northallerton, Whitby, Guisborough, Chester-le-Street, and Billingham.
