Ever dreamt of swapping your day job for life as a sleuth? Us too. Fortunately, Disney+'s latest drama, High Potential, is letting us indulge our crime-solving fantasies, so we don't do anything too impulsive. It really is the cosy crime drama we've been longing for.
Written by Drew Goddard (The Good Place), the new 10-part series follows Morgan, a feisty single mum of three who swaps cleaning for crime-solving – and it’s every bit as binge-worthy as it sounds. How exactly does she do it, you ask?
Well, Morgan just happens to work as a cleaner for the LA Police Department, and when her sharp mind helps the police solve a case, she’s quickly thrust into a new role with the LAPD's top crimes unit. It also just so happens that Morgan has an IQ of 160.
With bizarre cases and quirky outfits (we're looking at you, Morgan), it has all the ingredients of must-watch-the-next-episode-immediately show. So, if you’re in of some great but easy to watch, here’s everything else you need to know about the new series…
What is High Potential about?
Written by Drew Goddard (The Good Place), the 10-part series follows Morgan (Kaitlin Olson), a single mum of three kids with an exceptional mind. On her late-night janitorial shift at LAPD headquarters one night, Morgan accidentally knocks over a case file and can't help spotting fatal flaws in a homicide investigation.
It's a stroke of genius that leads to a spiky but unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective (Daniel Sunjata). At the same time as solving impossible cases, Morgan uses her new job as an LAPD consultant to search for her ex-husband and the father of her first-born child, who’s been missing for 14 years. It’s an ongoing mystery that keeps us guessing.
“We’re solving crimes, and that’s the basis of the show, but at the heart of it is this woman who is doing this for her kids,” Olson has said of the series.
