Heston Blumenthal has created an alternative Easter 'Egg' inspired by Isaac Newton
Easter is fast approaching and we finally have the chance to return to our normal Easter festivities. A chocolate treat is of course a seasonal highlight and Waitrose is selling a chocolate 'egg' with a twist.
Heston Blumenthal, the innovative multi-sensory chef, has created an alternative Easter egg inspired by Isaac Newton - Heston from Waitrose The Golden Apple.
The Golden Apple is a shimmering blonde chocolate apple disguising a layer of thick, dark chocolate inside, with six crunchy praline feuilletine chocolates. It sounds deliciously indulgent!
Explaining his inspiration behind the The Golden Apple, Heston said: “Easter is, of course, the time to indulge in something deliciously and luxuriously chocolatey. Normally this would be an egg – the traditional symbol of spring and renewal.
"Inspired by Isaac Newton, I’ve chosen an apple instead – signifying new discoveries, keeping an open mind and questioning everything. Something to ponder, perhaps, as you dig into the blonde chocolate surface of this gorgeous Golden Apple and discover the rich dark chocolate and crunchy praline feuilletine chocolates within.”
This new luxury chocolate creation will set you back £15 and will be on the shelves at Waitrose, along with the return of the sell-out Heston from Waitrose The Chocolate Scotch Egg, Eggstraodinary Hen's Eggs and the Eggstraordinary Speckled Eggs.
Also new to Waitrose this year is the Savoury Hot Cross Brioche Rolls, which sound ideal for burgers at an Easter barbecue, as well as the Waitrose No.1 Hidden Truffles Blonde Easter Egg.
It's the supermarket's first ever blonde egg, made of creamy caramelised white chocolate with feuilletine and fleur de sel, with a secret box of four salted caramel truffles hidden underneath for an added Easter surprise. Yum!
Waitrose's Easter range is available in stores and on waitrose.com now, with more to follow in the coming weeks.
