Don't worry if you haven't invested in one of those viral SiliSponge makeup applicators yet. The internet has dreamed up a really freaking weird hack that can make a silicone-style blending wonder out of your regular makeup sponge.

To do so, beauty vloggers have started covering their Beauty Blenders with condoms. Yup, condoms. First you wash off any lubrication - definitely do NOT skip this step - then insert the blender, tie off the end and apply foundation as usual. Apparently you get the best of both worlds: squishy texture that distributes makeup in tough-to-reach spots, without the wasteful absorption of a sponge.

Vlogger Itzayana Lizbeth, AKA Beauty Vixxen, tried an alternate hack: filling a condom with lotion. In her YouTube review, she said the combo worked better than the SiliSponge itself, pronouncing it "by far the best technique I've used as a beauty sponge."

For what it's worth, Itzayana had less success when she tried a balloon filled with water. The balloon's thicker walls and rounded shape didn't provide the control she needed for polished results.

This hack is a quick and cheap upgrade to your go-to blender. Just buy a pack, use one for your blender, then save the rest for their intended use.
