There are sooooooooooo many cocktail recipes out there, but which drink is the one you love to make at home, or the one you go back to time and time again at your favourite cocktail bar? Are you crazy for gin cocktails like a classic Negroni? Or perhaps you love nothing more than sipping a Cosmopolitan and pretending you're in Sex And The City (this is a judgement-free zone).

Or a 'work hard, play hard' Espresso Martini fan? We spoke to NIO's mixologist, Patrick Pistolesi, to find out which personality traits go with which cocktail.

A Daiquiri drinker is adventurous, with a bold soul who loves a challenge (Ernest Hemingway was a big fan, don't you know?). You're headstrong, but warm and friendly and vibrant. Invented in New York and most commonly associated with the famous nineties television show Sex And The City, the Cosmopolitan is a glamorous drink and one that carries a certain level of aspiration. Those who pick a Cosmopolitan as their cocktail of choice enjoy their freedom and independence and like to make a bold statement. Sipping a Cosmopolitan says to the world that you’re a trendsetter, the life and soul of the party and a natural leader too.

A popular aperitivo in its native Italy, the Milano Torino is light in body but full in flavour. Those who favour this tipple are elegant, with an aristocratic air about them, and like to remain somewhat of a mystery to those around them. Dating back to the 1900s, this drink has a distinctive charm about it, with Mi-To drinkers likely to enjoy the traditional and sophisticated things in life.

A complex combination of sweet, salty and sour notes makes for a bold flavour, reflected by the personality of a Margarita drinker. If you choose this vibrant cocktail, you're typically very energetic, outgoing and comfortable being the centre of attention. You're also a thrill-seeker who lives life at a fast pace; never slowing down for fear of missing out.

A sophisticated aperitif, the Negroni is a classic Italian drink. Dating back to the early 1900’s the drink was thought of as being a balance of both the good (bitters) and bad (gin) things in life. Some may say Negroni drinkers live life on the edge a little. If that's you, it means you're a practical thinker and a good listener, yet creative in your decisions.

An experimental cocktail made by muddling sugar with bitters, adding whiskey and garnishing with a twist of citrus rind, Old Fashioned drinkers were traditionally thought to be risk takers. Dating back to the 1800’s, the Old Fashioned was a popular drink served at Gentlemen's Clubs and is often associated to an aristocratic and more mature drinker. Those who pick an Old Fashioned today are said to enjoy a more traditional way of life but still have an air of risk and challenge to their personality.

Dating all the way back to the 1800s, a Whisky Sour is about as classic a cocktail as you can get. If you're a Whisky Sour sipper, it's likely that you are very complex; you tend to have many different - sometimes opposing - personality traits and are extremely adaptable in social situations. While whisky is said to be the drink of a confident person, if you prefer your whiskey in this cocktail form, you might have hidden depths to your personality.

One of the earliest records of the Manhattan cocktail dates back to the late 1800s, although - like so many cocktails - the origins of the Manhattan are lost in time. Traditionally served in a cocktail glass and garnished with a maraschino cherry, the Manhattan represents a strong, sensible individual with a warm and feminine edge. Just like the cocktail itself, a Manhattan drinker has an underlying sweetness, a softer side to its sturdy exterior.
