Helen Mirren was looking regal in a romantic ballgown inspired by the Renaissance as she attended Dolce & Gabbana's Alta Moda show in Venice over the weekend.

The 76-year-old Oscar winner wore an ornate gold bodice with sheer sleeves, and a skirt printed with Renaissance paintings for the couture show at St. Mark's Square, the first time the piazza has hosted a catwalk event.

The actress shared a photo of her incredible dress in all its glory as she posed on the red carpet at the event, and added the caption: 'I had a strange and wonderful dream last night. I dreamt I was in Piazza San Marco in Venice, dressed like a member of the Contarini Family, and before me appeared many beautiful goddesses dressed in heavenly clothes, as a rainbow and lightening appeared and thunder rolled, and as the vision disappeared a beautiful rain began to fall and then the following happened!'

Fans and celebrity friends were loving Mirren's incredible look, with Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood commenting: 'Stunning.'

'Wow, wow, wow breathtaking,' a fan added.

Mirren also posted a picture of herself dancing with her Fast & Furious 9 co-star Vin Diesel, posting the caption: 'I danced in the rain with VIN DIESEL!'

Guests at the Dolce & Gabbana show also included Jennifer Lopez, Kourtney Kardashian, The White Lotus star Sydney Sweeney, and Doja Cat.

Mirren is set to make her superhero movie debut in DC Comics sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods, as villain Hespera, the daughter of the god Atlas. The film will be released in 2022.
