Prince Harry holds UK meetings as Meghan jets back to Canada

Prince Harry has reportedly been holding meetings in Buckingham Palace as his wife Meghan returned to Canada to reunite with their son Archie.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Harry stayed on in the UK following their last official engagement at the Commonwealth Day service on Monday.

But Meghan flew back to Vancouver, where they had left their 10-month-old son with a nanny.

She is said to have bid an emotional goodbye to the staff at their office, who will have to move on come 31 March, when it closes.

The Telegraph reports the moment was “bittersweet” for the Duchess of Sussex.

It also reports she had another secret meeting with a patronage, and a family event in the afternoon.

The Sussexes revealed they met young leaders of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust at Buckingham Palace last week.

The duke and duchess will stay on as president and vice-president respectively of the QCT, but Harry can no longer be an ambassador.

Posting on Instagram, they shared an “outtake” of Harry laughing, sat next to a smiling Meghan, as well as a group shot.

They added some video footage of the meeting to their stories.

In a clip of the conversation, Harry says: “Without something to aim for, you can’t unlock the potential, right?

“I bet it’s made all the difference, right, to connect all of you guys.”

Meghan adds: “To build this network, the QCT, so you have a support system and a sound board to continue to bounce these ideas off of.”

The Telegraph’s report of the couple’s whereabouts comes after a mix of stories, some suggesting both of them flew straight back to Canada on Monday evening, while others indicated they would both stick around in Britain for a few more days.

They do not officially step back from their senior royal duties until 31 March, but it’s not believed there are any more engagements for them to take on.

The Commonwealth Service brought to a close their whirlwind UK farewell tour, during which they also attended the Endeavour Fund Awards and a military musical festival at the Royal Albert Hall. Meghan also made a secret visit to a school in Dagenham, east London, to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The couple now have to set out plans for life after the Royal Family. They have announced they want to set up a nonprofit, as opposed to a foundation, and it’s thought Meghan may lead on this project.

Prince Harry will continue working with Travelyst, his sustainable travel brand. He will return to the UK in April for the London marathon, and it’s thought they will both come back in June for Trooping the Colour.

The Daily Mirror reported that the couple are looking to work more with the military after they step back – a natural fit with Harry’s past life in the army and their existing connections with the Invictus Games and the Endeavour Fund.
