A takeaway restaurant in Blackburn is making its highly anticipated return to the former location of Goodfellas.

Harry’s, formerly on Johnston Street, reopened in new premises on Devonport Road yesterday (March 31).

Goodfellas was a favourite amongst residents in Blackburn, best known for its ridiculously cheap offers like four curries for £10 or a 12 inch pizza for £3.99. The takeaway would attract customers from across the borough.

Despite its popularity, the owners rebranded as Harry’s takeaway and moved to Johnston Street just down the road.

The owner, Chaudhry Harun, said: "It is great to be back on Devonport Road back where it all began for us.

"We’ve been trading since 2011 on Johnston Street and have decided to move to a different site which has less overheads so we can keep providing great food at a price that helps us, but most importantly helps our loyal customers, given the current situation as most things have almost doubled in price.

"We look forward to serving our customers for years to come and can’t wait to welcome them to our new shop."

Harry’s said they have kept their loyal customers during their relocation. They announced the takeaway would be closed from March 19 until the launch day.

Last month, the five star food hygiene rated eatery announced it’s big move back to the location where the Blackburn-business was born.

Popular meal deals at the takeaway include a chicken fillet or sizzler burger with regular fries and a drink for £5 or £5.80 with a hash brown and cheese.

Customers showed their support on social media and expressed their excitement for the reopening of Harry’s.

One passionate man was very complimentary of the takeaway, writing: “Very very very tasty. Great service, highly recommend. Nice place to eat [with] great, friendly and amazing service.

“Great food, great place to eat, excellent food, excellent service. Spot on. Awesome food and amazing service, top quality food and service.”

Another long-time fan of the takeaway said: “Original Goodfellas – Mashallah.”

Another person said: “Excited for you guys to reopen in your OG spot. Brilliant food and service.”

Harry’s is located in Devonport Road, Blackburn, and is everyday excluding Tuesdays.
