Watch: Harry Styles confirms 'Watermelon Sugar' is about 'the female orgasm'

Harry Styles has been filmed talking about the meaning behind his song 'Watermelon Sugar' - and he's confirmed that, yes, it's just as NSFW as fans had thought.
Appearing on stage in Nashville, Tennessee during his Love on Tour US leg, Harry took the time to chat to fans before singing his 2019 hit, with the song's meaning being first on the agenda.

Harry told the audience, "This song is about…It doesn’t really matter what it’s about," before adding, "It’s about, uh, the sweetness of life."

The ex-1D singer went on to perform the first few lines of the song, before confirming the single's real NSFW meaning to fans.

Interrupting the lyrics, he revealed, "It’s also about the female orgasm, but that’s totally different... It’s not really relevant."

Well, there you have it. Straight from the horse's mouth.

Fans, of course, captured the moment on camera before sharing it on Twitter. You can watch Harry's full explanation here:

Fans had previously speculated that 'Watermelon Sugar' had a secret NSFW meaning, but this is the first time Harry has directly confirmed it.

He was quizzed on the lyrics during an interview with Zane Lowe back in November 2020 but failed to give too much away. At the time, Zane asked whether the song was about "the joys of mutually appreciated oral pleasure," with Harry laughing and responding, "Is that what it’s about?"

There's also been speculation among fans that the song could be about Harry's ex-girlfriend Camille Rowe, with the model telling ELLE in 2017 that her favourite book is Watermelon Sugar by Richard Brautigan.

Well, at least Harry's cleared that one up a little bit.
