Harry Styles Just Drank Out Of His Shoe At A Concert In Australia And Fans Are Baffled
Harry Styles has never been one to follow societal 'rules' – as evidenced by everything from his out-there red carpet looks and penchant for wearing dresses to his genre-busting music and recent foray into the beauty world with his new brand Pleasing. But even so, we will say we were more than a little surprised when we spotted recent images of the 29-year-old singer appearing to drinking out of his shoe at a recent concert...
During one of his shows in Perth, Australia, earlier this week, Styles shocked fans by taking part in an Aussie 'tradition' called 'shoey' – which saw the star fill up his Adidas trainer with an alcoholic beverage, before chugging it down in front of the cheering crowd, and put it back on for the rest of the performance.
'This is one of the most disgusting traditions I’ve ever witnessed,' he said, joking that he felt 'like a different person' as he slipped his shoe back on afterwards. 'I feel ashamed of myself,' he continued. 'It feels so personal. Such an intimate moment to be shared with so many people.'
He later joked: 'I’ll be discussing this with my therapist at length.' Us too, Harry, us too.
If you, like us (and half the internet) are completely baffled by this entire situation, then let us assure you that there is some context behind the bizarre move... 'Shoey' is apparently an Australian tradition, seen as a kind of 'rite of passage' for famous people visiting the country. According to The New York Times, the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Luke Bryan and Gerard Butler have also partaken in the ritual in the past.
We think we'll skip that one, thank you very much!
