It's official: a Harry Potter reunion is happening! 20 years after the first film in the franchise was released, the cast are set to get back together for a special show, and we can't wait.

The 20th anniversary reunion episode, titled 'Return to Hogwarts', will see some *huge* cast members regroup to discuss the franchise two decades after Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was first released. They'll be sharing brand new behind-the-scenes insight into how the series was made, as well as taking a look back at all eight films, and it all sounds very nostalgic.

Plus, there's not long to wait at all! The special episode will stream at midnight on 1 January 2022, available on HBO Max. The perfect way to welcome in the New Year if you ask us.

As for who'll be appearing, HBO have confirmed that main cast members Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are taking part, and we can't wait to see Harry, Ron and Hermione return as an iconic trio.

The three actors will be joined by filmmaker Chris Columbus, as well as giant list of Harry Potter cast members from across all eight films. Names include: Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, and Evanna Lynch, plus more.

Sounds like we're all in for a treat then!

If that wasn't enough, HBO has also dropped a teaser trailer for the reunion featuring clips from across the series, and it's taking us right back to 2002.

Sharing more details on exactly what we can expect from the anniversary episode, HBO announced, "The retrospective special 'Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts' will tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time."

They added that the episode "will honor the magic behind the making of the films and the beautiful family created at Warner Bros. Studios London two decades ago.

"It will also celebrate the unparalleled legacy of the Harry Potter film franchise and its indelible impact on the hearts, minds, and imaginations of families and fans around the world."

Cast members were of course *very* excited to share the news, with Emma Watson writing a heartfelt post gushing about her love for the series. "Harry Potter was my home, my family, my world and Hermione (still is) my favorite fictional character of all time," Emma wrote, while Tom Felton (who plays Draco Malfoy) joked on Twitter, "is this what school homecoming is like?"

We can't wait!
