All across America families will be sitting together for a delicious turkey meal to celebrate the national holiday which commemorates the colonial Pilgrims' harvest meal that they shared with Wampanoag Indians back in 1621. For pop star Joe Jonas it's all about the food! Joe said: "As much gravy on everything as possible, and I think the tradition is that I still separate the different items of food on my plate. My dad was always like, he had to separate them, and I think it’s carried on. Yeah, I’m one of those.”

'Joker' star Joaquin Phoenix opens up his home to friends who have nowhere to go for Thanksgiving. He revealed: "I have, like, an orphan Thanksgiving, just a few friends that don't have any family come over. But Joaquin doesn't serve a traditional roast turkey meal as he is vegan!

'Sabrina The Teenage Witch’ is all grown up with a family of her own. Since tying the knot with musician Mark Wilkerson in 2003, Melissa has become a mother to three sons, Tucker, 10, Braydon, 14, and Mason, 16. Melissa takes on full mom duties on the holiday. She said: "I am so thankful for my family. I’m thankful for my three healthy, strong, amazing boys and all the trouble they give me.”

Shannen Doherty is another star who opens her home to her friends as well as her family on Thanksgiving. Posting on Instagram back in 2021 when a power cut disturbed her Thanksgiving meal, she wrote: "No power in Malibu, but we made do. I’m thankful for people who show up in my life. People who make me realize that friendship is everything."

The ‘High School Musical’ star is "in this together” with her friends and family when she celebrates Thanksgiving or ‘Friendsgiving’ as she likes to call it! She said: "Thanksgiving is with your family, and it's great that you get to spend time with them, but you don't get to choose your family. "So, with Friendsgiving, you get to choose the people you want to spend it with. I think it's really important to slow down and take a second to be grateful for what you have."

'The Hills' star often spends Thanksgiving with her friends, and she advocates sharing out the holiday responsibilities so the pressure isn't all on one person. She said: "I think it depends on how you're doing it and the approach you want to take, but I highly recommend sharing the responsibilities. "Cooking can take up the entire day, so I think coming together and having everyone bring a little piece of their holiday to the friend group is a really nice way to go. When you're hosting, you're cooking the main dish. Then, you'd ask others to provide whatever their favorite thing is, whether it be a salad or stuffing or a potato dish. It's fun to do it that way."

It’s true that you can’t choose your family, but you can choose your friends, which is why ‘Dance Moms’ star Jojo, 19, likes to share the special day with her "chosen family". She said: "We do have Friendsgiving, and it's a special day that we get to be with our chosen family. "And, you know, they play such an important role in the life of everybody, in the life of myself and the lives of whoever your chosen family is. So, I think that keeping the people you love close, just keep moving forward and put one foot in front of the other. Everything's going to be okay."

Oprah always has a full house on Thanksgiving. The talk show host often invites students from her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls to join her and her partner, Stedman Graham, for dinner. Oprah even adds some "South African cuisine" to the usual turkey offering.

Jennifer Aniston invites her closest friends to spend Thanksgiving with her and she spends most of her time in the kitchen cooking up a feast. She said: "On Thanksgiving, I cook a lot of stuff. The normal turkey, yams, or sweet potatoes, the whole deal."

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt split in 2017 and have 10-year-old son Jack together. Although they are no longer a couple, Anna is happy to have “group Thanksgiving dinners together and to be at that place" where Chris and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger and their two children can join her and her new husband Michael Barrett and Jack for a blended family celebration.
