Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers' widow Lili reveals heartbreaking way she's marking what would have been his 67th birthday
Lili Myers, the widow of the late TV chef Dave Myers, has opened up about her unique tribute to him on what would have been his 67th birthday. After Dave's heartbreaking passing in February from cancer, Lili is determined to honour his September 8 birthday by doing something that mirrors his legendary warmth and generosity.
During an appearance on BBC Breakfast, Lili revealed her touching plans: "Dave was a very kind person and a very warm generous person. This month, on the 8th, is Dave's birthday. So I wanted to mark that with something special. I want people to be generous to each other, I want people to be more warm to the world. Whether they're donating to charity, or giving a book to somebody, or talk to somebody in need."
Currently, Lili is on an inspiring motorbike trip through The Alps, a journey she feels Dave would have adored, all while fundraising for children's charities and encouraging others to embrace benevolence over the weekend. Moreover, Lili has publicly thanked those who have stood by her following Dave's departure, participating in 'Dave's Day', which celebrates the profound difference he made.

She expressed her heartfelt appreciation: "I just thought I had this magical, beautiful community that was really with me. It helped a lot. Some people started cooking by watching the boys on TV."
Around 20,000 fans across the UK celebrated 'Dave Day' in colourful tributes to the late TV chef. The day included a grand procession from London all the way to Barrow-in-Furness, led by his widow Lili and Dave's comedic partner Si King. At the event, Lili shared her feelings, saying: "Dave was always a Barrovian through and through. He wanted to put Barrow on the map and from beyond the grave, he has done it."

Lili also spoke candidly about feeling Dave's presence everywhere. She expressed: "Everybody who loses somebody in their lives misses them but there's a different layer because if I turn on the TV, he might be on. There are cookbooks in the house everywhere. He is everywhere. It just transpires and rolls on into this beautiful thing."
Earlier in the year, Si had taken to social media to break the heartbreaking news of his friend's passing. In his statement, he said: "I'm afraid I bear some sad news. Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave's wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing."
"His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own. Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can't follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime. I wish you god's speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya."
