Eleven years ago, I went into a Salvation Army shop and found a blue-and-white check jacket that was the perfect thickness for autumn. Either worn over jeans or with a slip skirt, it’s a piece I’ve pull out of my wardrobe over and over ever since. What I’m saying is that when you buy a decent plaid shacket—brand new or second-hand—you’ll never get rid of it. It’s a piece that will definitely last. Perhaps it’s because of the grunge “trend” that has never really disappeared since it first came to light in the ’90s, or maybe it’s because this just so happens to be a classic casual piece that’s durable.
If you’re in the market for such an item, then I have some incredibly good news for you: There are loads of them around on the high street right now. In fact, I'd go as far to say that the shacket is really having a moment in 2020 and I predict it'll continue well into 2021 what with our current love of all lasting wardrobe pieces and more casual attire.
