Though Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's 'conscious uncoupling' has gone down in iconic celebrity breakup history, the Goop mogul recently revealed that a divorce was the last thing she wanted.

Speaking to Anna Faris in her latest podcast episode of Anna Faris Is Unqualified, Paltrow said, 'I learned so much from something that I wanted least in the world.'

Paltrow and Martin were married for 11 years before separating in 2014. The former spouses share two children: daughter Apple, 16, and son Moses, 14. Paltrow has since gone on to marry Brad Falchuk, a television writer, while the Coldplay singer has reportedly moved in with girlfriend Dakota Johnson.

'I never would have wanted to get divorced,' she told Faris. 'I never would have wanted to not be married to the father of my kids. Theoretically.'

Still, Paltrow said that the separation provided a learning curve for her. 'I had learned more about myself through that process than I could have imagined,' she said. 'And because I focused on accountability, I was then able to find the most amazing man and build something that I’ve never had before.'

Of Falchuk, she told Faris, 'I was scared, because he is a person who demands presence and intimacy and communication in a way I just didn’t know how to. I like to fight by shutting down—goodbye! I leave the room. And he was like, "No, absolutely not. We’re sitting down, and we’re figuring this out." And he demands that I am honest with myself in a way that is hard for me, but which really helps me grow.'

Though the two have since divorced, Paltrow and Martin are still on exceedingly good terms. Paltrow maintains an easy friendship with Johnson, Martin’s new beau, and the couples have even ventured on double dates together.
