After Jennifer Lopez's ex-boyfriend Diddy recently waded into the ongoing fascination about her rekindled relationship with former fiancé Ben Affleck, another famous ex of one half of the couple is now responding to the nostalgic hype.
The reunion of Lopez and Affleck - who dated and were engaged between 2002 and 2004 before breaking up, which they have suggested was in part due to the intense media and public speculation over 'Bennifer', as they were dubbed - has made people fondly look back at the Noughties. As a result, plenty of memes have been floating around that echo our nostalgic feelings.
One even featured on the Instagram account belonging to Goop, the wellness brand founded by Gwyneth Paltrow.
On Wednesday (June 3), the platform shared a meme featuring its founder with her ex-boyfriend, who by the way also happens to be Affleck, in another Nineties throwback picture.
In the meme, Paltrow is seen rolling her eyes while Affleck whispers something in her ear. The Shakespeare In love actor is dubbed 'Gemini szn', while the Argo director is captioned as 'Mercury in retrograde'.
While the world is obsessed with Bennifer, Paltrow laughed off the reference to her old relationship with Affleck and commented under the picture: 'Oh my god you guys.'
Paltrow and Affleck dated from 1997 until 2000 (with a break in between). Over the years, Paltrow has discussed her famous ex, telling radio host Howard Stern in 2015 that the pair remain friendly. In 2018 she said that her relationship with Affleck served as a 'lesson'.
'It’s interesting, I think there’s certain boyfriends where you are trying to work stuff out, right? Like, you’re trying to heal certain stuff from your childhood and he was very much a lesson in that way,' Paltrow said, per Entertainment Tonight. 'I’m not sure exactly what I was trying to heal in that instance, but it was ...he was, ya know, it was specific.'
