As if Halle Berry couldn't have a more iconic presence at the Academy Awards than she already does (she practically invented the concept of emotional acceptance speeches), she's just upped her game again: this time in the hair department.

That's right - HB joined the ranks of Doja Cat, Demi Lovato and Lily Allen, opting for the exceptionally brave look of a microfringe for the occasion last night.

They say never to debut a dramatic transformation or bold new look at a high stakes event - so I'm absolutely obsessed with the way Halle literally ignored that advice, got herself the most daring hairstyle she could, and rocked up to the Academy Awards looking like the baddest of bitches.

Can we take a second to admire? Not only is there a microfringe, but there's a jaw-length, asymmetrical bob - not to mention the shagginess. Oh, and that divine colour? Minky-brunette with dashes of honey and caramel? Adore.

MUA Jorge Monroy paired the look with a roster of Clinique products to create a subtly smoked-out eye, nude lips and a glowing complexion.

Berry's dress was a strapless, structured mauve gown which flowed into a flowing mauve train and statement bow - and the whole look, from microfringe to bow stayed in place immaculately for the entire red carpet.

Esteemed guests, I think it's fair to say that the choppy bob is officially back. I'm overwhelmed, to be quite honest.
