In honour of International Women’s Day, we asked women to talk about how they’ve been mislabelled… and how they want people to see them.

A Lebanese-Canadian author, speaker, poet and educator celebrating the release of her third book, “Sparks of Phoenix.”

Dr. Kaajal Abrol, MD, FRSC, REI
A Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Specialist at TRIO Fertility Clinic in Toronto. Dr. Abrol is passionate about raising infertility awareness and providing fertility treatment and care to her patients.

Samra Zafar
An award-winning international speaker, Zafar has shared her story of surviving domestic abuse and escaping a forced marriage in her book, “A Good Wife.”

Greta Hodgkinson
An American-born ballerina and principal dancer with the National Ballet of Canada. In 2017, Hodgkinson was appointed to the Order of Ontario for her achievements in dance.

Ann Dowsett Johnston
An award-winning journalist, editor and the author of “Drink: The Intimate Relationship Between Women and Alcohol.” Dowsett Johnston is a public speaker and advocate for mental health and addiction, and alcohol policy issues.

Kae Tran
An artist and digital creator living with muscular dystrophy, working to advocate and raise awareness for diversity and inclusion for disabled persons.

Weyni Mengesha
An award-winning director and the artistic director for Soulpepper Theatre Company in Toronto, Ont.

Tessa Virtue
A five-time Olympic medalist and world ice dancing champion, Virtue is a mentor for FitSpirit, a non-profit organization that promotes the benefits of sport to young girls.

Kawennáhere Devery JacobsA Canadian Screen Awards nominated television and film actress and passionate Indigenous Rights Activist.
